California Dreams
The California dreams spent only one season in the Women’s Professional Basketball League (WBL) in the winter of 1979-80. The Dreams split home games between Long Beach Arena and the Anaheim Convention Center (home to the ABA’s Amigos). The Dreams weren’t much of a success, starting the season 1-7 and attracting only a couple hundred fans to their home games. By early 1980, they were broke and unable to pay players. The team would fold soon in February 1980, unable to complete their first and only season.
