Minnesota Fillies
The Minnesota Fillies were part of the Women’s Professional Basketball League (WBL) for all three seasons, from 1978 through 1981. After going through five coaches in their first year, they finished 197-79 with a 17-17 record. In year two, they were much improved and went 22-12, reaching the second round of the playoffs before being ousted by Iowa. Their third season would finish in financial chaos, as the Fillies and most of the league was in deep financial trouble at this point. After missing payroll, the team would walk off the court prior to a game in Chicago against the Hustle. The Fillies finished out the season with replacement players and the WBL would fold.
