Milwaukee Does
The Milwaukee Does were part of the first women’s basketball game, when they opened the WBL schedule in December 1978 against the Chicago Hustle. The Hustle won the game, but the Does attracted nearly 8,000 fans to the MECCA. That’s the high point of the Does franchise, though. The team would fire their coach after that game and go through five coaches during the first season. The team would eventually finish 1978-79 with an 11-23 record good for last in their division. The Does finished the 1979-80 season poorly again, going 10-24, and would fold at the end of the season.
