Pittsburgh Rens
The Pittsburgh Rens played in the old American Basketball League (ABL) for one season, 1961-62 at the Civic Arena. The team would sign 19-year old Connie Hawkins, who would lead the league in scoring and win MVP. The Rens would go 41-40 and lose in the first round of the playoffs that year. Citing financial losses, the Rens would not return for the league’s second season, which would be cut short anyway as the league folded.
