Scranton Aces
The Scranton Aces played in the EBA, originating as the Wilkes-Barre Barons in 1946, although their origins may go back as far as 1914. The Barons were wildly successful as far as EBA teams go and won 11 titles between 1946 and 1978. The EBA was always a small-town Pennsylvania based league but by the end of the 1970s, the league was expanding all over North America as far away as Montana, Alberta, and Alaska. This pushed many of the traditional Pennsylvania teams out of the league due to the increased travel expenses. The Barons would move to Scranton for the 1980-81 season and become the Scranton Aces in search of a new and possibly more lucrative location. However, they would only make it the single season in Scranton before folding for good.
