Sunbury Mercuries
The Sunbury Mercuries were a long-time team in the Eastern Basketball Association (EBA), which was composed mostly of teams in PA, NY, and other mid-Atlantic state. The Mercuries started as all the way back in 1946 and played in Sunbury High School. They would win the EBA title in 1951 over York Victory AC. In 1953, they would lose in the finals to the Williamsport Billies. They wouldn’t have much other success on the court, as they finished in the middle or lower half of the standings most years. They can however brag to having Hall of Famer Jack Ramsay as an alum. The Mercuries would fold after the 1970-71 season.
